BUCKS COUNTY CONSORTIUM Thursday, November 1, 2007 Meeting Minutes A meeting of the Bucks County Consortium was held at Bucks County Country Club on November 1, 2007. The following individuals were present: Mark Fournier – Telford BoroughGail Weniger – Warwick Township Tom Scott – Warwick Township Katrina Harding – Warwick Township Tim Hagey – Warminster Authority Jon Davis – Doylestown Borough Joe Czajkowski – Upper Makefield Township Stephanie Mason – Doylestown Township Bob Pellegrino – Northampton Township Brian Shapiro – Northampton Township Vivian Bell, Warrington Township Tim Tieperman – Warrington Township Eileen Bradley – Wrightstown Township Linda McNeil – Tinicum Township Eugene Miller – Dublin Borough Mellissa Shafer – Chalfont Borough Dave Ivan – Michigan State University Preliminary Remarks Gail Weniger called the meeting to order and announced the morning's agenda. Approval of Minutes Stephanie Manson made a motion, seconded by Robert Pellegrino, to approve the Minutes of 4 October 2007. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report Vivian Bell presented the Treasurer’s Report for October month. A motion was made by Brian Shapiro, and seconded by John Davis, to approve the Treasurer’s Report for October 2007. Motion carried. Presentation: “Municipal Branding, Creating Community Identity” by Dave Ivan Dave Ivan, who conducts community and economic development programs for MSU Extension, presented. Mr. Ivan provided the membership with a PowerPoint presentation titled “Can Small Towns be Cool? Best-Practice Communities.” He began his presentation with successful themes among successful small cities and how can you lead your community from “hell to paradise”. His discussion then was outlined as follows: citizen engagement, 3 rd place factors, future land use opportunities, willingness to adapt zoning regulations, cultural economic development approach, authentic cultural activities, city core values, outreach to community youth, preserving heritage, the outdoor factor, and the conviction that you have to do it yourself. During his presentation he provided real life examples and took questions from the membership Mr. Ivan encouraged members to contact him with any questions. He can be reached at 1-989-224-5296. Announcements Gail Weniger informed the members about the Delaware Valley Health Insurance Trust (D.V.H.I.T) Meet the Arbitrators session on April 30, 2008. This session will allow area municipal managers and their key staff to meet face-to face with the individuals who ultimately resolve Act 111 and Act 195 grievances and hold the decisive role in Police Interest Arbitration disputes. Stephanie Manson made a motion, seconded by Robert Pellegrino, to approve a Letter of Support to D.V.H.I.T. for this session. Motion carried. Gail Weniger also announced that the December, Bucks-Montgomery Holiday Luncheon would be on Friday, December 7 th at 12:00 p.m. The event will be at Villa Barolo in Warrington.
